Ecology is derived from the Greek
oikos, home, and logos, study. So, ecology is the scientific study of the
interactions between organisms and the environment (Reece, 2011). There are two
distinct components to the “environment”, (1) The physical environment such as
temperature, soil acid, wind speed (2) Biotic environment, which comprises any
influences on an organism that are exerted by other organisms, including
competition, predation, and parasitism (Yadav, 2003).
